Fire has never got along with Water. The Spider and the Bird both hunt the same insects. Day and Night never co-exist.
It is perhaps wise, say the Chinese proverbs, to understand that enemies are natural things. But, unlike Fire, who is quenched by Water, and unlike Spider, who can be eaten by Bird, and unlike Night, whom always gives away to a new Day, enemies can be made into friends.*
